Saint Calliope

He lived in the middle of the 3rd AD. century, in the years of the emperor Decius. She was distinguished for her physical beauty but also for her rich mental and spiritual gifts. Due to her extraordinary beauty many tried to lure her to the joys of worldly life. Calliope, however, was devoted to Christ and dedicated her life with all her soul to caring for the sick and helping the poor. When Decius unleashed a fierce persecution against the Christians, he was arrested and brought before the judge. The prefect admired her beauty and tried to persuade her to abandon her faith. Calliope did not waver and her faith remained steadfast in Christ. Then he ordered and they whipped her mercilessly. She was then hacked and her wounds burned and she finally received the crown of martyrdom as she was finally beheaded.
