Saint Eugenia

She lived in the second half of the 3rd century AD. she came from Rome and her parents were named Philip and Claudia. He also had brothers Avita and Sergio. Her father was appointed prefect of Alexandria and went there with his whole family. There, Eugenia studied Greek and Roman philology in the best possible way and, seeking more knowledge, read the letters of the Apostle Paul.When she studied them she was very impressed. Their lines inspired life and hope. At that time her parents wanted to give her as a wife to a Roman official, Aquilina. Then Eugenia, refusing to accept this proposal, dressed as a man and left for another city. There she was catechized, baptized a Christian and at the same time took the monastic form. In fact, her virtues were so great that she soon assumed the hegemony of the monastery. After being slandered by the worldly Melanthia, she is forced to reveal her nature and identity.Her father Philip soon converts to Christianity. The pagans out of their hatred mortally wound her father. Eugenia returns to Rome, refusing to sacrifice to idols, but accepts the crown of martyrdom.
