Saint Theodosius

Born in Cappadocia, he lived during the time of Emperor Leo the Great (457 - 474 AD) and reached the time of Emperor Anastasios the Second (491 - 518 AD). He refused married life and at a young age became a monk. From a very early age he was distinguished for his temperance and moral perfection. Theodosius, after practicing ascetics near great ascetics, such as Simeon and Linginos, retired to a special hermitage teaching the word of the Gospel. The excessive increase of the brothers forced Theodosius to establish a large and spacious communal monastery. As a synoviarch he applied standards like those of the first Christian Church. At an advanced age, Theodosios, after nurturing thousands of souls with eternal life advice, gave up his spirit.
