Saint Therapon

This blessed man came from the country of the Alemanni (Duchy in the region of Germany), from noble and pious parents. He despised all the necessities of life because he devoted himself to the Holy Scriptures. He became an ardent preacher of Christ. The bishop of Alemannia called him and ordained him a bishop. It is worth noting that Saint Therapon did not wish for it, but he obeyed.

Saint Therapon opposed and criticized the iconoclasts, calling them heretics, atheists and impious. They imprisoned him and tortured him. The Saint endured all this with determination. His biographer states that the saint miraculously escaped and traveled to Jerusalem. After visiting all the Holy Pilgrimages for his own benefit, he amazed many, with many miracles and signs which he performed and was proclaimed by the inhabitants as Great and Wonderworker. One of the most important miracles performed by Saint Therapon, took place in Jerusalem, when he met a funeral of a small child whom he resurrected.

Once he decided to leave Jerusalem to avoid glory and went to Cyprus, where he controlled the heretics who fought the worship of the Icons. After widespread request, the saint accepted and became bishop of Cyprus. After the passage of years there was an Arab raid on Cyprus, who burned down all the Monasteries and Churches, arrested Saint Therapont and beheaded him in front of the Holy Table while he was working.
