Dormition of the Mother of God

The greatest of all the feasts of the Mother of God that is solemnly celebrated all over the world, the Dormition of the Virgin. It is considered the main feast of the Virgin Mary, while the whole of August is dedicated to her. Within the Sacred Tradition and the rich hymnology of our Church, the faithful live the sleeping of the Virgin Mary, because the Virgin Mary died like all of us, as did her Son, but then "transitioned", ascended with soul and body to the Heavens and he is there close to Christ, to intercede for us.Her tomb, there in her Temple, in Gethsemane, was found empty three days after she fell asleep, when the Apostle Thomas, who arrived late, as God provided, was opened to venerate her Holy Body. Because for the other Apostles and Hierarchs he had saved to arrive in time... on clouds, each one from the ends of the world, where they were scattered, to preach the Gospel.The Virgin Mary had been informed of the "new" three days earlier • not only so that she would not be disturbed that she would die and prepare, but also to rejoice that she would go to the eternal Kingdom next to her beloved Son. She went as she used to pray for the last time on earth and gave her two unique dresses to two widows who were near her. Then she waited for Christ's disciples, whom a loud thunder immediately brought to her deathbed, to receive her blessing, before Christ came with the Angels to take her holy soul to Heaven.
