Saint Christina

Saint Christina came from Tire in Syria and was the daughter of a general. Her pagan father did not forgive her for her Christian faith and eventually imprisoned her. The following night, her father died and his place as general was taken by someone named Dion.

After Christina again confessed her faith, this time before a court, Dion ordered that the torture against her be resumed. During the torture many of her fellow prisoners believed in Christ. Dion's work was continued with greater intensity by a certain Julian who also subjected her to horrible tortures. He endured all these tortures with determination.

In the end, they pierced her heart with poles and Christina gave up the spirit, receiving the crown of martyrdom and passing on to eternal life. The sources state that Saint Christina was martyred during the reign of Septimius Severus (193-210).

Orthodox Church celebrates her memory on July 24
